Scholarship Climb Successful
The Jim Ratz Memorial Scholarship Climb was successful this year, with an ascent of the Grand Teton. Jessica Roberts and Carlyn Cook, from Riverton and Lander, Wyoming, climbed the Pownall-Gilkey route on the 13,770 foot peak on July 24th with guide Rob Hess. The two sixteen year olds were selected from a large pool of applicants earlier this spring, and came over to the Tetons for a three day trip. The girls were strong climbers and the ascent went smoothly. In addition to the climb, they had time to enjoy Corbet High Camp and make some astute observations of climbing the Grand, logging them in the high camp journal. . .
