Rock Climbing Instruction: Moab
Come join us for a fun and exhilarating day on the rock, and enjoy the red and white sandstone beauty! Our guides’ thorough instruction will emphasize fundamental risk management techniques and habits, and plenty of on-the-rock experience.We have courses for the beginner to the advancing climber. Basic classes offer rewarding and successful experiences for children as young as five years old.
Participants need only bring lunch, plenty of water and suitable clothing. We provide all necessary equipment except for rock shoes, which are available for rent in downtown Moab at Pagan Mountaineering (435-259-1117). Please refer to our Moab Trip Planner for more information.
DAILY CLASSES
Introduction to Climbing
If you have never climbed or just want to brush up your basic skills, this class is for you. During this introduction to rock climbing you will learn basic climbing terminology and commands, knots, belay and rope skills, and learn the fundamentals of climbing technique and movement. Once you experience life in the vertical world, you will be hooked! Available both as half-day and full-day.
Half-day price: $85/person/3; $99/person/2; $160 private.
Full-day price: $120/person/3; $165/person/2; $260 private.
Advanced Climbing Designed for the experienced climber, we will customize the class to your skill level and interest. Topics may include multi-pitch skills, placing and pulling gear, anchors, lead climbing and more advanced crack technique needed for more athletic desert routes. This is a great opportunity to advance your movement and technical skills with expert instruction from desert climbing pros. Also an ideal prep for a Tower day.
Price (full day only): $199/person/2; $280 private.
Kids Rock!
Kids love to climb and so do we. This is the perfect class for youngsters 12 and under and their parents. Your children learn how to climb on the beautiful sandstone crags of southern Utah. Kids plus two parents.
Price: $80/person, half-day; $125/person, full-day.
Reservations
JHMG requests full payment (Visa, Master Card, Discover, personal check, money order) to book a date and schedule a guide. Payments are refundable up to 15 days prior to the date of your climb, minus a $50 processing fee. To schedule a climb on a weekend, or during our busy season, we encourage you to book one month in advance.
