Kids Climbing Camp starts each day at 9:00 a.m. at our office in Jackson and returns to the office around 4:00 p.m. All activities take place in Grand Teton National Park (GTNP) or the Bridger Teton National Forest (BTNF). Please refer to our gear list for items your child will need to have for the 4-day period. Jackson Hole Mountain Guides provides transportation and climbing gear. You need to bring a lunch and drinks!
Day One: Boulder Town (GTNP) — Morning: learn the basics of movement on rock, harness use and basic belay skills. Afternoon: spend time climbing and having fun on the rock. Late afternoon: either learn to rappel or head over to String Lake for a swim.
Day Two: Curtis Canyon (BTNF) — Morning: review top-roping skills and safety and get on the rock for more advanced climbing. Afternoon: more climbing, possible rappel class or review.
Day Three: BTNF or GTNP -- Either snow school (boots, raingear, gloves, ice axes, sun glasses) in early season or back to Boulder town for more advanced movement and rappel class and possible swimming at String Lake.
Day Four: Boulder Island expedition (GTNP) — Canoe and portage to Boulder Island, learn about multi pitch climbing and make a two pitch ascent of the Boulder.
Day Four (Alternative): Peak ascent (GTNP) —an all-day ascent of a non-technical or mildly technical peak.
Other notes: It is nice to end the day back at the office with a popcicle.
