Kids/Teens: Kids Rock
Kids Rock class is a full day of top-roping and climbing. Everyone learns a few simple knots, how to belay a climber, and techniques for moving on rock. The emphasis is on safety, climbing and fun.
Price: $100 each, in group of three or more.
JHMG has specific class locations for kids and families. For example, in Grand Teton National Park we go to a special place called "Boulder Town". The approach is short and the climbing takes place in a lovely, shady location with lots of huge, house-size boulders. We can make prior arrangements to meet your family at the parking area for Boulder Town if you are staying at a lodge or resort within Grand Teton National Park or Yellowstone. As with all our classes, you need to bring a lunch, water and enough clothing to spend the day comfortably outdoors. Please refer to our summer class
equipment list for specific recommendations.
If, after the initial Basic Class your young climber wants to come back he or she can sign up for another Basic Class or move on to an Intermediate (described below) depending upon space availability and scheduling.

Class locations in Lander, Cody, Moab, City of Rocks, Red Rocks and elsewhere are similarly tailored for kids and families.
Classes start at 9:00 am and end around 3:30 pm. However, if you prefer we can start later in the morning and finish a little later in the afternoon with a day's advance notice. Our prices are for a full day of climbing but if you want to end early it is entirely up to you.
Intermediate class
is the prerequisite for climbing multi-pitch routes, such as the Grand Teton. This is the logical next step for middle school aged kids and teens who want to learn more about how to safely rock climb.
Price: $150 each, in group of 2 or more. We also offer
Advanced classes for those who really want to get into the sport.
Price: $195.
